DEAD SEXY
After almost 3 years of touring around the globe, former LA based French Dead Sexy relocated in Berlin in 2010 and started to work on the follow up to the acclaimed “Kamikaze”.

In the summer of 2011, the band decided to redefine their sound to get a closer approach of their live performances.
Very influenced by their worldwide travels and endless night in Berlin, started to find the lead for « Rodeo Boys », a hell of a ride that features a cocktail of filthy rock’n’roll and electronic anthem.

After few weeks of pre-production of the record in Berlin, Dead Sexy stopped on 12 tracks and started collaborations with a selected choice of musicians : Cyril Debarge (We Are Enfant Terrible), James Leg (Black Diamond Heavies), Suzanne Combo (Pravda), Romain Frequency (Electrosexual), David Maars (Platzblanche), Boris Jardel (Indochine), and Mickey Blow (Johnny Thunders). The result is a mix of classic beats and hypnotic riffs, between dancefloor electro rock tribute to Berghain « Panorama » and early new wave infuences of « Slow motion ». « Rodeo Boys » covers the widest specter of Dead Sexy, a bunch of runaway boys fed with the poison of Iggy, Ziggy and Alan V, the essence of punk, 808 and 666…

Recorded between Berlin, and Paris, the band worked with various engineers, including Dimitri Dupire (Mignon), and Thomas Stern (Crime & The City Solution, Einstürzende Neubauten…) who gave them the vintage guitar sound they where looking for.

For the the mix of their newborn, Dead Sexy chosed to work again with french producer Mazarin (No One Is Innocent, Birdy hunt), and Dimitri Tikovoi (The Horrors, Placebo…) for their song « Lonesome Poupée ».

Facts:

-Dead Sexy Inc. started in Hollywood in 2003 signed to Cleopatra Records, Electroschock Record in Germany and XII bis in France. “Break Me” was produced by Paul “PK” Kendall.

-Their DJ compilation “Mix Shake” released through Universal France (that features their cover of “Ca Plane Pour Moi”) sold over 25 000 copies.

-They shoot “We had a dream” during their travel from Los Angeles to NYC, a movie co-produced by Agnes B/Lovestream and Save Ferris (featuring the likes of Jonas Mekas, Thurston Moore, John Giorno, Larry T, Maurice G Dantec, Greil Marcus…). The band left the rock’n’roll circus to tour contemporary art centers and festival playing live with the music of their road movie.

-The band released a Manga based on a fiction story of the band with Chinese Magaka Jian Yi.

-The band opened for such artists as Miyavi, Miss Kittin & The Hacker, Vitalic, Vive La Fête, E Neubauten, Peaches, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, 14 shows with French superstars Indochine to name a few. Going over more than 20 countries in the US, Europe and Asia. Appeared at CMJ Fest NY, SXSW Austin, PopKomm Berlin, Lattitude Festival UK,  Minikvas Festival in Slovakia, Printemps de Bourges in France, Black Glitter Japan, Canadian Music Week in Toronto...

Après 3 années passées sur les routes à la promotion de leur album Kamikaze, le groupe qui débuta à Los Angeles, s'est relocalisé à Berlin pour la réalisation de son nouvel opus.

Eté 2011, le groupe entame l’écriture en cherchant à garder un aspect plus brut et sauvage que son prédécesseur, une alchimie plus proche de ses performances live. Influencé par leurs périples autours de la planète et par la nuit berlinoise, le groupe trouve très vite la direction de “Rodéo Boys”, un tourbillon électrique qui mélange une fois de plus le meilleur des guitares rock’n’roll et de leurs penchants électroniques.

Après plusieurs semaines de pré-production, le groupe décide d'inviter plusieurs musiciens et arrangeurs pour complimenter et pervertir les 12 titres de leur autoroute vers l’enfer : Cyril Debarge (We Are Enfant Terrible), James Leg (Black Diamond Heavies), Suzanne Combo (Pravda), Romain Frequency (Electrosexual), David Maars (Platzblanche), Boris Jardel (Indochine), et Mickey Blow (Johnny Thunders).

Le résultat, un mélange détonant de « dirty beats » et de riffs hypnotiques, de tubes dancefloor et d’hymnes electro punk. Entre le tribute à la nuit berlinoise du Berghain (« Panorama »), le rock ascéré de “Lonesome Poupée” ou les retrouvailles avec la new wave (« Slow motion »), « Rodéo Boys » nous ouvre de nouvelles portes sur l’univers de Dead Sexy, une bande de Runaway Boys nourris au poison d’Iggy, de Ziggy et d’Alan V, à l’essence du punk, de la 808 et du 666…

Enregistré entre Berlin et Paris, le groupe a travaillé avec différents ingénieurs, parmi lesquels, Dimitri Dupire (Mignon) et Thomas Stern (Crime & The City Solution, Einstürzende Neubauten…) qui ont donné à « Rodéo Boys » les touches sonores vintages que recherchaient Dead Sexy.

Pour le mixage de « Rodéo Boys », Dead Sexy à retrouvé le producteur français Mazarin (No One Is Innocent, Birdy Hunt), et Dimitri Tikovoi (The Horrors, Placebo…) qui s’est occupé de « Lonesome Poupée ».

A peine son album terminé, le groupe rode déjà son nouveau set live avec 6 dates au Japon en avril et 3 dates en Pologne au mois de mai 2012 !

FACTS:

-Le groupe tourne le road movie “We had a dream” pendant leur périple à travers les Etats Unis. Un voyage entre Los Angeles et New York dont il tire un film et une bande originale, co-produit par Agnes B/Lovestream et Save Ferris (on y retrouve entre autre of Jonas Mekas, Thurston Moore, John Giorno, Larry T, Maurice G Dantec, Greil Marcus…). Pendant un an, le groupe délaisse le circuit rock’n’roll pour tourner dans les centres d’art contemporain et les festivals où ils jouent la BO en formule ciné-concerts.

-Avec le Magaka chinois, Jian Yi, le groupe sort “Sekushi Memory” (Paquet Editions) un manga base sur une fiction où le groupe sauve un Tokyo futuriste des griffes de la Star Ac du coin...

-Dead Sexy a ouvert pour Miyavi, Miss Kittin & The Hacker, Vitalic, Vive La Fête, Einstürzende Neubauten, Peaches, Sigue Sigue Sputnik… 14 dates avec Indochine. Le groupe a traversé plus de 20 pays, aux USA, en Europe et en Asie.
